Desmos Virtual Learning Series with Andy Malbouef
Sponsored by MiSTEM!
Desmos is a free digital platform designed for math teachers to engage students through calculators and interactive activities. These activities consist of multiple screens with tasks or prompts, tailored to the teacher's needs. The platform encourages students to make connections between real-life scenarios and math concepts, identify patterns, visualize math in different ways, and learn from mistakes in a safe environment.
Purpose: Desmos aims to help students both learn and love math. It emphasizes critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration in problem-solving, allowing students to explain their reasoning and share their thoughts.
Training Series Objectives:
Computation Layer is key to creating interactive, responsive activities, allowing teachers to customize content and connect different representations within an activity.
