Adventures with Mathematics Flyer PDF Print E-mail

Dear Fellow Teachers:

Do you need a new idea for “Back To School Night”? Why not share a game or describe an activity from one of the Adventures with Mathematics activity books? This is a series of 13 “grade level” books (K-8 and Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, Probability and Statistics) being written, tested and published with teams of teachers, students and other mathematics educators across Michigan.

Hopefully one of the 6 currently available is just what you can use!

Adventures with Mathematics: Climbing from Grade 1 to Grade 2,
Adventures with Mathematics: Climbing from Grade 4 to Grade
5,
Adventures
with Mathematics: Climbing from Grade 5 to Grade 6,
Adventures with
Mathematics: Climbing from Grade 6 to Grade 7,
Adventures with Mathematics:
Climbing from Algebra 1 to Geometry, and
Adventures with Mathematics:
Climbing from Geometry to Algebra 2.

When parents ask for ways to help their students, recommend that they purchase and use one of these books. If a student is weak in a given area, you can use the alignment chart to suggest specific activities. If a student would benefit from skill practice or experiences to develop concepts, activities and problems are there.

A flier that describes the books and availability is attached to this e-mail. Please print off copies and distribute to your parents.

The Mathematics Scholarship Endowment Fund Committee (MCTM-SEF) is engaged in writing 13 grade level books intended for children to use throughout the summer to mitigate summer learning loss.  The activities and short problems were written by Michigan teachers, mathematics or statistics educators, and prospective teachers. They are fun, engaging, and help children not forget everything they learned in grade n while also preparing them for grade n + 1.

Proceeds benefit the MCTM Scholarship Endowment Fund which supports scholarships for prospective K-12 mathematics teachers.

To order books visit the MCTM store under the Publications Section.
