Job Description - Publications Director PDF Print E-mail
The Director of Publications is a contracted position selected in conjunction with the Contracted Services Committee and the Subcommittee of the Executive Board. The length of term shall be negotiated as a part of the contract.

The Director of Publications will
  1. Oversee the production of the MCTM Newsletter (four per year), Mathematics in Michigan (MIM) (two per year), monographs (at least one per year), and other publications as requested by MCTM.
  2. Set schedules for deadlines that assure publications will be issued on time and convey these schedules to the President.
  3. Maintain “MCTM Publications” Internet page with information about deadlines, publication guidelines, ordering information, etc.
  4. Work with the MCTM Board to identify topics for monographs, themes for MIM, etc.
  5. Develop guidelines for writers for each publication.

Job Description - Executive Secretary PDF Print E-mail

The Executive Secretary  is a contracted position selected in conjunction with the Contracted Services Committee and the Executive Board. The length of term shall be negotiated as a part of the contract.

The Executive Secretary shall:

  1. Be empowered to utilize approved budget resources to hire/contract persons or institutions to perform various tasks related to MCTM services including
    • Database management
    • Membership
    • Finances
    • Board Services
    • Conference Services
    • Exhibit Services
    • Regional Conferences
    • Publications
    • MCTM Web Page
  2. Be bonded.
  3. Ensure that designated Board members are bonded.
  4. Keep a record of business contacts and contracts.
  5. Serve as liaison between the MCTM Office and the Council.

Job Description - Website Supervision Committee PDF Print E-mail

The chairperson of the Website Supervision Committee shall be appointed by the President with the approval of the Subcommittee of the Executive Board for a term of three (3) years.

The Website Supervision Committee shall

  1. Continually monitor website content and performance needs and make recommendations to the Executive Board.
  2. Review items, via email, not covered under existing web policies documents.
  3. Coordinate with the Webmaster.
  4. Prepare an update on the current status and long term direction of the website for presentation at the March Executive Board meeting.

Job Description - Scholarship Selection Committee PDF Print E-mail

The chairperson of the Scholarship Selection Committee shall be appointed by the President with the approval of the Subcommittee of the Executive Board for a term of three (3) years.

The committee shall:

  1. Solicit applicants and select scholarship recipients.
  2. Annually update the scholarship guidelines and application form with the advice and consent of the Scholarship Committee and the Executive Board.
  3. Seek Executive Board approval regarding the number of scholarships to be awarded.
  4. Publish scholarship program information in the MCTM Newsletter or Mathematics in Michigan as well as on the MCTM web site.
  5. Distribute current guidelines and application forms to all Michigan public and private colleges and universities.
  6. Arrange for the reading of applications and selection of recipients by the committee.

Job Description - Scholarship Endowment Fund Committee PDF Print E-mail

The chairperson of the Scholarship Endowment Committee shall be appointed by the President with the approval of the Executive Board for a term of three (3) years.

The Scholarship Endowment Committee shall

  1. Oversee the administration of the Scholarship Endowment Fund, established to generate income for the awarding of undergraduate scholarships to students who are preparing to teach K-12 mathematics.
  2. Coordinate with the Treasurer to report the income and expenses of the Scholarship Endowment Fund to the Executive Board at each Executive Board meeting.
  3. Coordinate with the Treasurer to prepare a summary of income and expenses of the Scholarship Endowment Fund for the Annual Report.
  4. Make recommendations at the November Executive Board meeting as to the amounts available from the Scholarship Endowment Fund for the coming year’s scholarship awards.
  5. Prepare promotional packets and advertisements for soliciting contributions.
