CCSS-Mathematics Resources ~ Updated May 15, 2012
Bill McCallum's Blog - Dr. McCallum is the CCSS-M lead writer. His blog has numerous resources, presentations, links, and the like to current (and archived) CCSS-M materials. NCSM CCSS-M Webinar Series - Check out this series of webinars on the CCSS-M from the National Council of Supervisors of Mathematics (NCSM). Topics range from introducing the CCSS-M, to using the NCSM materials alignment tools (see information below), to the Standards for Mathematical Practice. PTA Parent Guides - These grade-by-grade guides (in English and in Spanish) are a great resource for Parents, explaining what their child should be learning a the given grade level. They also provide suggestions for parents for learning activities outside of school. http://www.pta.org/4446.htm OR http://www.PTA.org/parentsguide . Illustrative Mathematics Project- Illustrates the range and types of mathematical work that students are expected to experience as the CCSS-M are implemented with fidelity. Creator/Lead Author is Bill McCallum, the lead CCSS-M standards writer. This site continues to be under development. http://www.illustrativemathematics.org CCSS-M Learning Progressions Documents- Bill McCallum's group is working to provide several mathematics progressions documents, describing how a topic evolves as students move from grade to grade. Visit http://ime.math.arizona.edu/progressions Mathematics Curricular Analysis Tool for the CCSS-M (Now Available) - Creator/Lead Author Bill Bush from the University of Louisville is heading this project to produce three tools to analyze curricular materials vs. the CCSS-M. One tool will help users see how well key content areas are treated in each of four grade bands (K-2, 3-5, 6-8, and 9-12). A second tool will analyze how well the eight Standards for Mathematical Practice are integrated into curricular materials. The third tools will help assess pedagogical aspects of curricular materials. These are now available on the NCSM website at... Hyperlinked Version of the CCSS-M: Want to navigate easily within the CCSS-Math document? Try using (or downloading) this hyperlinked version from Bill McCallum and his team. Visual Depiction of the Mathematical Practices: This brief graphic shows some higher-order structure for the eight Standards for Mathematical Practice. Inside Mathematics - This professional resource for educators features classroom examples, tools for mathematics instruction, and video tours of the materials and ideas available on the website. Materials here are being aligned to the CCSS-Math. http://www.insidemathematics.org MARS Project- Mathematics Assessment Resource Service: If you've been teaching in Michigan for a while, you might remember the "Balanced Assessment for the Mathematics Curriculum" project - a series of workshops and materials around high-quality assessment tasks for students (geared toward grades 4, 8, and 9-12, but can be adapted for other grade level use). If you are looking for resources for "performance events" and "performance tasks" (a la SMARTER Balanced Consortium proposed assessments), you might dig out your BAMC materials, or check out the resources here. |
