The Michigan Council of Teachers of Mathematics Award for Outstanding Achievement in the Field of Mathematics Education is designed to recognize the recipient's contributions to mathematics education in the state of Michigan. The award is intended to be the highest recognition MCTM can bestow upon one of its members for contributions to mathematics education. The person selected for this award will have made significant contributions to mathematics education in one or more of the following categories: 1. Active leadership in mathematics education at the local, state and national levels. 2. Outstanding contributions to the improvement of mathematics curricula. 3. Significant engagement in professional development for teachers of mathematics at all levels. 4. Contributions to mathematics education over a significant period of time. 5. Overall excellence of contributions to mathematics education.
